Working Style: Your workstyle will be an agile hybrid worker role, offering flexibility to work from home and various Council workplaces, with the opportunity to work on any days and at any times.

As a Business Support Technician, you will have supervisory responsibility for the administrative team(s) and develop strong working relationships with all levels of senior management within the Service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing flexible, high-quality, and efficient administrative support. Assisting with planning and developing support services. Supervising administrative staff.

Duties of the Post:

  • Team Management & Supervision: Leading and managing teams of administrative and support staff, including task allocation, performance management, and professional development. Mentoring and coaching team members. Providing advice on complex issues.
  • Operational Support: Overseeing daily operations, procurement of goods and services.
  • Communication and Relationship Management: Maintaining strong communication channels with internal teams and external stakeholders, acting as a key contact.
  • Process Improvement: Identifying areas for process improvement, implementing changes, and monitoring effectiveness. Overseeing financial processes such as petty cash, invoicing, and corporate credit card transactions.
  • Business Planning & Development of IT Systems: Contributing to planning, developing, and organizing support service systems, procedures, and policies. Researching, analyzing, and evaluating data to produce reports and information.

About you:

Do you have the following skills and experience:

  • Team Leadership: Proven experience managing and mentoring teams.
  • Operational Management: Understanding of business processes and efficiency improvements. Planning and organizing activities to meet objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and effective communication with stakeholders. Experience with petty cash, invoicing, and credit card processes.
  • Administrative IT Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and promoting technology to modernize administrative practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop solutions.
  • Change Management: Experience supporting organizational change initiatives. NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent experience. Supervisory experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. Access to suitable transport (driving license/car) is essential.
