Hours: 37hrs Per week / Full-time

Controllers work 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:00 or 19:00–07:00) on a Rota of 2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 days off. Weekends, bank holiday working, and some lone working are required to maintain continuous service delivery.

Working Style: Your workstyle in this role will require you to work from a fixed workplace.

We are currently seeking a vigilant and reliable individual to join our team as a CCTV & Emergency Response Controller. Neath Port Talbot’s vision is for the county borough to be a place where everyone has an equal chance to get on in life – a place where people want to live, learn and work and bring up their family. Our dedicated CCTV team plays a vital role in supporting community safety through a purpose-built, state-of-the-art CCTV facility that operates 24 hours a day.

As a CCTV & Emergency Response Controller, you will work from and be responsible for the efficient operation of the Council’s CCTV monitoring facility and out-of-hours emergency service. You will work independently to make critical decisions, ensuring the safety and security of the community while liaising with internal departments, emergency services, local businesses, councillors and members of the public.

Daily routine includes:

  • Monitoring live and recorded CCTV footage
  • Responding to incidents and escalating where required
  • Operating the Council’s out-of-hours emergency response service
  • Communicating with police, emergency services, and stakeholders
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs of incidents
  • Supporting public safety through proactive observation and response

About you:

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C (or equivalent) or above
  • Strong observational skills with the ability to analyse visual information quickly and accurately
  • Good digital literacy skills for data entry and communication
  • The ability to remain calm, focused and professional under pressure
  • Confidence to handle sensitive or potentially distressing situations
  • SIA (CCTV) is preferred; however, a commitment to obtaining this qualification within 12 months is acceptable.
