Job Overview: We are looking for a hands‑on Technical Product Owner to help build our product‑driven DevOps model and shape the way we work and operate. The role focuses on IT software and infrastructure products and applications such as billing software, digital platforms, integration and flow management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with business managers to define product vision, strategy and roadmap, and identify ways to continually improve and deliver desired outcomes via IT change.
  • Manage the product with high autonomy, leading to the delivery of measurable value.
  • Drive delivery and creation of business value by organising effective and collaborative product teams; mentor and support the team; ensure they understand the desired business outcome and its link to the product vision and goals.
  • Build, prioritise and refine the backlog aligned with the product vision, incorporating new features, fixes, continuous‑improvement tasks and removal of technical debt.
  • Assess and plan the impact of wider business or IT projects on the product (e.g., regulatory change).
  • Demonstrate a good level of technical understanding of the product and how it interacts with all areas of the business.
  • Ensure overall delivery of the technical solution to the business problem, aligning with service‑delivery and performance requirements and delivering agreed business outcomes.
  • Apply lean practices while delivering value through iterative development (MVP and test‑and‑learn).
  • Support the product team to adopt DevOps, triage and resolve incidents, and collaborate with engineering and technical teams to ensure operational success.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Agile and/or waterfall environments delivering customer‑led outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of backlog prioritisation and agile software development; awareness of technology trends and interest in emerging technologies.
  • Experience working with third‑party IT suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Financial and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems effectively.
  • Experience in requirements analysis, process modelling and business case production.
  • Ability to translate technical details into business language.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product‑owner, Agile delivery or DevOps certifications.
  • Experience in Retail, Financial Services or Energy sectors.
  • Knowledge of Junifer (Gentrack Energy Customer Management Platform).
  • Experience in a DevOps environment with CI/CD approach.
  • Experience managing customer‑facing products such as Digital / Customer Contact.

Role Details: This is a hybrid role based at our Solihull office and offered as a 12‑month secondment opportunity. The position is part of an ongoing organisational transition and requires a focus on shaping a product‑oriented operating model.
