As part of this transition, E.ON is building and expanding its Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) capability connecting new developments to the grid efficiently, reliably, and competitively. This is a high‑growth area of the business, critical to supporting electrification, housing development, and infrastructure expansion across the UK.
About the Role
This is a senior commercial role within E.ON’s new IDNO business unit, reporting directly to the Head of Sales & Business Development. The Senior Account Manager will be accountable for managing, developing, and growing relationships with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), a critical channel in the IDNO ecosystem. The role will focus on:
- Maintaining and strengthening existing ICP relationships
- Securing new business through proactive account development
- Driving revenue growth from both existing and newly acquired ICP partners
- Supporting the strategic expansion of E.ON’s IDNO footprint across the UK
Over time, this role will evolve into a leadership position, with responsibility for building and managing a high‑performing account management team.

Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) are essential delivery partners within the UK energy connections market. They influence contractor selection, infrastructure design, and ultimately which IDNO is appointed for asset adoption. Strong ICP relationships enable an IDNO to:

Key Responsibilities
- Account Management & Growth
- Manage a portfolio of strategic ICP accounts across the UK
- Develop and execute account plans to drive revenue growth and share of wallet
- Identify and convert new business opportunities within existing accounts
- Establish strong, trusted relationships with key decision‑makers and influencers
- Business Development
- Identify, target, and onboard new ICP customers
- Build a robust pipeline of IDNO opportunities aligned to company growth targets
- Represent E.ON in industry forums, events, and client engagements
- Commercial Strategy
- Negotiate commercial agreements and secure competitive positions in bids
- Work cross‑functionally with design, engineering, and delivery teams
- Provide market insight to inform pricing, proposition development, and strategy
- Leadership & Future Growth
- Contribute to the development of the IDNO go‑to‑market strategy
- Mentor junior team members as the function scales
- Transition into a team leadership role, managing and developing an account management team
