Join nPlan β where AI meets the future of construction. We are a Series B startup backed by leading investors including GV (formerly Google Ventures) and DeepMind's founder, Demis Hassabis. Our technology helps the world's biggest construction projects make faster, more confident, data-driven decisions.
By combining one of the world's largest datasets of project plans with advanced machine learning, we forecast project outcomes and reduce risk β reshaping how infrastructure gets built.
The Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Product Engineering team in London. You'll report to our CTO and work closely with our VP of Product and senior engineers within the department. In this role you'll contribute to the development of the department and our products, guiding engineers from Frontend to Infrastructure in ensuring our capabilities and capacities are constantly growing. You'll mentor and grow senior engineers, unblock hard problems, and push the Engineering department by setting and achieving ambitious objectives and high standards of performance.
We work with complex graph data (each with 10,000+ nodes), applying multiple ML and LLM approaches to understanding the data, extracting meaningful insights using a proprietary forecasting engine, and empowering deep human interactions - all of which must work efficiently and robustly in production. As a startup, we also keep agile in a fast-moving environment. With this technology, nPlan is creating first of its kind products that can significantly improve the planning and delivery of major construction projects.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on technical depth, intellectual challenge, and impact at scale. You'll work alongside top engineers, AI specialists and product experts shaping the future of project intelligence.
What We're Looking For
We're after specialists who bring both expertise and curiosity. For this role we are looking for:
- Proven track record of managing 10+ engineers (ideally across multiple disciplines) in a high-growth, product-centric environment.
- Comfortable scaling teams, systems and processes towards Series C.
- A track record of governing technical debt whilst executing on software delivery at pace.
- A background in requirements-driven architecture and systems design in the cloud.
Please mention the word βcrane' in your application form. We care more about potential and drive than perfection. If you're excited by what we're building, we want to hear from you. If you understand the nuances of building sustainable practices and motivating teams in a scaling start-up, you'll feel right at home here.
Why You'll Love Working Here
Competitive salary of Β£110-130k and generous equity β when nPlan succeeds, so do you. Flexible hours, hybrid-friendly with a Shoreditch office HQ. We have no strict requirements, but for this role we'd expect you to come into the office once or twice a fortnight, and for regular events such as Engineering Days. Uncapped holiday, private medical insurance, personal learning and development budget, enhanced family and sick leave, and more. Room to grow β we're approaching 50 people and scaling fast. Guided by our values: Learn from Everything. Be Radically Truthful. Aim High, Run Fast.

We're a curious, diverse, and mission-driven team united by a belief that better data can change how the world builds. We value openness, honesty, and diversity of thought β and believe the best ideas win, no matter where they come from.
