Working directly alongside experienced assessors, the successful candidate will gain practical site exposure while developing the analytical, technical, and report-writing skills required to progress toward competent Fire Risk Assessor status.

The position is suited to someone who is academically strong, highly organised, and confident communicating with clients, while also comfortable working in a detailed, report-focused environment.

About Us

We provide fire safety consultancy alongside installation and maintenance of fire and security systems, supported by extensive third-party accreditation including BAFE SP205 Life Safety Fire Risk Assessment.

You will work closely with senior assessors to support the delivery of fire risk assessments while developing professional competence through practical experience and structured learning. The role combines regular site attendance with structured technical learning and supporting the preparation of fire risk assessment reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shadowing senior assessors during fire risk assessment site visits and audits to understand assessment methodology and risk evaluation.
  • Assisting with the preparation and drafting of fire risk assessment reports.
  • Gathering and organising building and client information to support assessments.
  • Supporting consultancy administration and maintaining accurate records.
  • Undertaking professional study and development toward recognised fire risk assessment qualifications.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong written communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident and professional manner when speaking with clients.
  • Analytical mindset and willingness to learn technical material.
  • Comfortable working both on site and in an office-based environment.
  • Well organised with the ability to manage detailed work accurately.
  • Genuine interest in developing a long-term career in fire safety consultancy.
  • A degree or relevant academic background is advantageous but not essential.

What We Offer:

  • £28,000–£31,000 per annum (depending on experience).
  • Direct mentoring within a BAFE SP205 accredited consultancy.
  • Structured development toward Fire Risk Assessor competence aligned with recognised industry competency frameworks (e.g. BS 8674).
  • Exposure to a wide range of building types and consultancy work.
  • 24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • 5% employer pension contribution.
