A leading specialist technical consultancy is looking for a Software Technical Lead to join a live Central Government project. You will work within a collaborative Agile team, building bespoke software that solves complex operational challenges.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and supporting a team of software engineers
  • Designing, developing and testing bespoke software solutions
  • Providing technical direction and communicating clearly with clients
  • Producing solution architectures and technical designs
  • Building full-stack applications using Java, JavaScript, React and TypeScript
  • Designing and deploying cloud-based solutions, primarily using AWS
  • Creating continuous integration pipelines using tools such as GitLab
  • Working across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to delivery, support and maintenance
  • Deploying software into public and private cloud environments
  • Promoting high standards of software quality, security and engineering practice

What we’re looking for:

  • You will be a hands-on Senior Engineer or Technical Lead with strong commercial Java development experience
  • Good experience designing and building solutions in AWS
  • Full-stack development experience using JavaScript, React and TypeScript
  • Previous experience leading engineers or providing technical direction
  • An understanding of software architecture and technical design
  • Experience working throughout the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
  • The ability to understand customer challenges and translate them into practical technical solutions
  • Consultancy experience would be helpful, but it is not essential

Security requirements:

Due to the sensitive nature of the projects, the successful candidate must be able to obtain high-level UK security clearance. To be eligible, you must be a British citizen and have lived permanently in the UK for the last five years.
