Job Description
One of Canadas leading, client-centric, innovative service firms, requires an IT Application Architect, based in either Ottawa, Montreal, or Toronto.
Bilingual preferred but not essential. On site 40% of time / flexible. Senior role, reporting to the company IT Director. Home office and Fitness expenses.
OVERVIEW
- Serving as technical leader re the software development process, as well as the data layer supporting 3rd party solutions.
- Creating prototypes, evaluating possible risks and defects, examining specifications and customizing applications, mindful of integration and scalability.
- Executing roadmap for data architecture in line with the companys data strategy.
- Working with several other architects, and an IT team between 75 and 100 people.
RESPONSIBITIES
- Help choose state of the art application architecture / technologies applicable to all functions of the company.
- Balance in-place and suggested IT technologies to minimize risk, meet goals and business requirements, and be successful into the future.
- Mentor and guide all inside and outside architects, technical and project teams and stakeholders with respect to leading architectural design, principles, implementation.
- Create specs for system architecture, validate re requirements and best practices.
- Help database team meet mission critical goals.
- Promote use of state of the art technologies, enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies, and leading practices, leading to the best solution delivery.
- Help data management manager and team in the delivery of business intelligence solutions and maintenance of data sources.
- Lead application architecture projects, and oversee existing and future related strategies.
- Work with project managers, business analysts, development teams towards a goal of architectural excellence.
- Documentation, DW/BI standards, database design oversight.
- Engage in annual review of system architecture.
- Overall leadership of architects, IT staff, stakeholders, supporting companys service standards, and communicating its goals across all of IT.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert SME across the organization, able to communicate up to the C-Suite.

- BS, BSc, Diploma, Certifications - IT related.
- 10 years working with database or application development, providing solutions for user requirements.
- 5 years data architecture design and implementation, BI methodology, data integration.
- Professional, innovative thinker and leader, deep understanding of architecture, security, system implementation.
- True leader and decision maker, able to assist and work at all levels, up to C-Suite.
- Able to help non-technical users, and interact with other IT professionals and architects, vendors, users, to gain consensus.
- Data integration (APIs, SQL, etc.) and warehousing, identity management product (MS MIM, Azure AD, Okta, etc.).
- Microsoft software stack, including Azure Cloud, MS SQL Server platform, Cloud Architecture/Technologies, Azure Dev Ops and QA best practices.
- SME on architecture, technology, processes, tools, design, security.
- Self starter, lots of initiative, excellent client service, customer focused skills.
