Responsibilities:
- Handle a caseload of complex banking and financial disputes, managing cases from inception through to resolution.
- Conduct thorough research on banking regulations, financial laws, and precedent cases to inform litigation strategies.
- Provide clear, strategic advice to clients on potential risks, outcomes, and options for dispute resolution.
- Prepare pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents.
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations, advocating effectively on their behalf.
- Engage in negotiations to seek favourable settlements for clients, minimising their exposure to lengthy litigation.
- Coordinate with financial experts, forensic accountants, and other specialists to strengthen case evidence and testimony.
- Ensure all litigation processes adhere to regulatory requirements, including anti-money laundering (AML) and fraud prevention guidelines.
- Identify and evaluate potential legal risks for financial institutions and advise on preventative strategies.
- Liaise with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders to ensure transparent case progress and effective collaboration.
- Stay updated on developments in banking law, financial regulations, and litigation techniques to ensure best practices.
