About the role
Lead a skilled team. Shape lifesaving products. Make a real impact.
We’re looking for a Build Team Leader to lead a team of Mechanical Fitters who assemble our world‑class armoured vehicle and protection systems. If you’re a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment — and you want a role where your work directly contributes to protecting those who protect us — this is your opportunity.
What you’ll get in return
At NP Aerospace, we know our success comes from our people. That’s why we invest in benefits that support your health, reward your hard work, and help you grow your career:
- Performance rewards – discretionary bonus opportunities
- Flex your day – flexible start and finish times (subject to manager approval and operational needs)
- Time to recharge – 25 days’ holiday + 8 bank holidays, with the option to buy more through our Holiday Purchase Scheme
- Support for Defence – two weeks’ paid leave for Reservists and Cadets, plus paid leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs)
- Future security – competitive pension scheme (9% combined employer/employee contributions)
- Peace of mind – life cover at 3x base salary
- Health & wellbeing first – BHSF Cash Healthcare Plan to support everyday health costs
- Grow with us – career development and advancement opportunities within a global business
- Supportive environment – a team culture built on innovation, collaboration, and purpose
What you’ll be doing
As the Build Team Leader, you’ll oversee the day‑to‑day performance of the Mechanical Fitters, ensuring that assemblies are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll allocate work, set clear expectations, and keep production on track by monitoring output, addressing issues quickly, and leading daily start‑of‑shift discussions.
You’ll be actively present on the shop floor, supporting complex build tasks when needed, maintaining accurate production and stock data in QAD, and ensuring your area runs smoothly. A key part of your role will be developing your team — identifying training needs, coaching individuals, managing performance, and building a flexible, multi‑skilled workforce that can adapt to customer and schedule demands.
You will champion safe working practices, lead risk assessments, enforce process discipline, and work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Technical teams to continually improve the build process.
What we’re looking for
Proactive and confident leader who gets the best out of people
Comfortable being hands‑on and actively present on the shop floor
Strong communication skills and ability to guide and motivate a team
Able to solve problems quickly and effectively
Confident in addressing performance issues when required
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes
