About the role
We’re looking for a Technical Representative to support the delivery of the PMETS (Protected Mobility Engineering Technical Support) contract and provide expert vehicle support to the UK Ministry of Defence. This is a 6-month fixed-term role covering a period of long-term sickness within the team, supporting ongoing operational requirements across the protected mobility fleet. In this role, you’ll act as a technical authority for several of the UK’s protected mobility platforms, including Mastiff, Ridgeback, Wolfhound, Foxhound, Jackal and Coyote. You’ll work directly with MOD personnel, maintainers and users across the UK, helping diagnose issues, analyse failures and provide technical guidance that keeps these vehicles operational. You’ll thrive in this role if you have a strong background in military vehicle maintenance and enjoy solving complex technical problems in real operational environments. If you want a role where your expertise directly supports defence capability and protects those who protect us, this could be the perfect opportunity.
What you’ll get in return
- Performance rewards – discretionary bonus opportunities
- Flex your day – flexible start and finish times (subject to manager approval and operational needs)
- Time to recharge – 25 days’ holiday + 8 bank holidays, with the option to buy more through our Holiday Purchase Scheme
- Support for Defence – two weeks’ paid leave for Reservists and Cadets, plus paid leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs)
- Future security – competitive pension scheme (9% combined employer/employee contributions)
- Peace of mind – life cover at 3x base salary
- Health & wellbeing first – BHSF Cash Healthcare Plan to support everyday health costs
- Grow with us – career development and advancement opportunities within a global business
- Supportive environment – a team culture built on innovation, collaboration, and purpose
What you’ll be doing
As one of the UK PMETS Technical Representatives, you’ll provide technical investigations, advice and engineering support across the protected mobility fleet. You’ll respond to support requests from the Authority (UK MOD), travelling to locations across mainland Britain to diagnose issues, analyse failures and provide practical solutions that keep vehicles operational. Through this work, you’ll deepen your expertise across multiple vehicle platforms and develop strong relationships with military users and maintainers. You’ll also contribute to improving vehicle reliability by analysing faults, producing technical reports and gathering feedback from operators and maintainers. This insight will help inform post-design services recommendations and engineering improvements across the fleet, giving you the opportunity to influence how these vehicles evolve and are supported in service. When not responding to Authority-tasked activities, you’ll work with the wider PMETS team to support the maintenance of reference fleet vehicles and provide engineering support to ongoing programmes. This gives you hands‑on involvement in Level 1–3 maintenance tasks while continuing to build your technical competence across protected mobility systems and subsystems. Our team embraces modern technologies, including AI-assisted tools, to work smarter and deliver better results. Candidates should either have experience using AI tools or demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply them in their role.
What we’re looking for
- Strong vehicle engineering knowledge and the ability to operate independently while representing NP Aerospace professionally in front of defence stakeholders.
- Experience maintaining Protected Mobility Platforms as a REME Class 1 Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent.
- Knowledge of platforms such as Mastiff, Ridgeback, Wolfhound, Foxhound, Jackal or Coyote.
- City & Guilds qualification as a Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent technical certification.
- Strong analytical and fault-finding capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for producing technical reports and advice.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong relationships with MOD users and stakeholders.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Competence using Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience of using AI tools or demonstrates a willingness to learn and apply AI in role.
- Experience working within a service-focused organisation at SNCO level or equivalent.
- Experience working with Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S).
- Membership of, or working toward membership of, a relevant professional body.
