About the role
We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead the delivery of technically focused engineering projects within our Vehicle Systems, Services and Spares (VSSS) Business Unit. This role plays a vital part in delivering solutions that keep the UK’s protected mobility fleet operational and future-ready.
You’ll manage a portfolio of projects across the business, with a particular focus on the Protected Mobility Engineering and Technical Support (PMETS) contract — supporting vehicles such as Cougar, Foxhound and HMTV. It’s an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, engineering-led environment where your expertise will help shape critical defence capabilities.
If you’re a technically minded project professional who thrives on leading complex engineering projects and delivering real-world impact, this could be the perfect role for you.
What you’ll get in return
- Performance rewards – discretionary bonus opportunities
- Flex your day – flexible start and finish times (subject to manager approval and operational needs)
- Time to recharge – 25 days’ holiday + 8 bank holidays, with the option to buy more through our Holiday Purchase Scheme
- Support for Defence – two weeks’ paid leave for Reservists and Cadets, plus paid leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs)
- Future security – competitive pension scheme (9% combined employer/employee contributions)
- Peace of mind – life cover at 3x base salary
- Health & wellbeing first – BHSF Cash Healthcare Plan to support everyday health costs
- Grow with us – career development and advancement opportunities within a global business
- Supportive environment – a team culture built on innovation, collaboration, and purpose
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll lead multiple engineering projects from planning to delivery, ensuring they’re completed on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. You’ll take ownership of project plans, budgets, and resources – maintaining full visibility of risks, dependencies, and milestones.
You’ll work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to define project requirements, oversee technical direction, and ensure designs meet customer and regulatory standards. As part of this, you’ll guide engineering change processes and support teams in solving technical challenges throughout the development and service lifecycle.
Building strong relationships will be key. You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners – including MOD representatives – to ensure consistent communication, governance, and reporting. You’ll also contribute to bids and proposals, supporting the growth of our project portfolio.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a proactive and technically minded Project Manager who can lead complex engineering projects with confidence and clarity. You’ll ideally have:
- Degree-level education, preferably in a technical or engineering discipline
- Proven experience in project management within a technical, defence, or manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in project planning tools and Microsoft Office (including MS Project)
- Experience managing budgets, risks, and governance documentation
- Excellent communication skills – able to engage across engineering and leadership teams
- The ability to identify critical paths and drive results under pressure
- Eligibility for UK Security Clearance without exemptions
