The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and self-driven IT Support Technician to join a growing technical team, providing both on-site and remote support to a diverse portfolio of clients, including schools and commercial organisations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and delivering excellent customer service. You will manage your own workload while collaborating with a wider team to ensure high-quality IT support across multiple environments.
The Role
As an IT Support Technician, you will be responsible for supporting users with day-to-day IT issues, maintaining systems, and ensuring smooth operation of hardware, software, and network infrastructure. You will work across a wide range of technologies, giving you the opportunity to build strong, well-rounded IT knowledge in both technical and customer-facing areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing on-site and remote IT support to clients
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues
- Supporting desktop environments, servers, and cloud systems
- Managing user accounts, permissions, and system access
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining devices and applications
- Supporting network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls
- Troubleshooting printers (hardware and software) and managing deployments
- Monitoring systems and identifying potential issues
- Logging and managing support requests using a ticketing system
- Ensuring all work meets agreed service levels and technical standards
Technical Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong understanding of general IT systems and troubleshooting methodologies
- Knowledge of networks, operating systems, and cloud fundamentals
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace administration
- Windows OS experience (7, 8, 8.1, 10)
- Windows Server (2008, 2012, 2016) exposure
- Group Policy administration and software deployment
- Understanding of networking devices (switches, routers, firewalls) and antivirus solutions
- Experience supporting printers and device deployments
- Knowledge of Apple macOS, iOS, and MDM solutions
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills
- Data recovery techniques (e.g. partition recovery, file system repair)
- Experience with cloud platforms and device management tools (e.g. MDM solutions)
- Advanced hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Experience managing Apple devices using tools such as Apple Configurator or Meraki MDM
- Familiarity with documentation tools and ticketing systems
Interpersonal Skills
- Professional and confident approach when working with clients
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical users
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience liaising with a range of stakeholders, including education staff and commercial clients
