Now Education are working in partnership with Wirral Met College who are seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim Head of English & Maths to lead and drive rapid improvement across English and maths provision during a key period of the academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced FE leader who can quickly establish credibility, lead at pace, and deliver measurable impact across GCSE and Functional Skills provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for English and maths provision across the college.
  • Lead curriculum teams to improve student achievement, attendance, retention, and progress outcomes.
  • Drive rapid quality improvement initiatives within a short-term interim appointment.
  • Use performance data effectively to identify risks and implement targeted interventions.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, staffing, timetabling, and resource allocation.
  • Lead quality assurance activities including lesson observations, learning walks, standardisation, and self-assessment.
  • Support and develop staff performance through coaching and professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders and stakeholders to ensure high-quality learner outcomes.
