Are you passionate about helping learners overcome barriers and reach their full potential? We’re recruiting two dedicated Learning Needs Support Practitioners to join our supportive education team at HMP Oakwood. In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with learners to identify individual support needs, develop practical strategies, and provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support that helps them engage, progress and succeed. You’ll collaborate with tutors and wider support teams to promote inclusive learning, build confidence, and ensure every learner is supported and empowered to achieve meaningful outcomes.
We have a fantastic opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Oakwood, working as a Learning Needs Support Practitioner. There are two positions available, offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information: HMP Oakwood is a Category C men’s prison located in Featherstone, Staffordshire, near Wolverhampton. It is one of the largest and most modern prisons in the United Kingdom. The teams' aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Hold level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (Grade c or grade 4 and above)
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Hidden Difficulties/Learning Support or equivalent, or be willing to work towards within an agreed timescale
- Have a track record or good understanding of working effectively with learners presenting with challenging behaviour
- Have a good understanding of how people learn and methods which can be used to enhance a learning experience
- Have experience of supporting the learning of individuals and/or groups
