We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Hindley, working as a Cover Teacher on an ad-hoc/casual basis.

Site Information: HMP Hindley is a Prison and Young Offender Institution (YOI) based in Bickershaw near Wigan, Greater Manchester. The resettlement prison has capacity for approx. 600 young adults (18-25 years old) and adult males. The Prison is committed to providing a safe and educational environment where its prisoners can learn new skills to help them on release.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months.
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to teachers within YOI only).
- Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners.
- Have a good previous track record of achieving quality targets.
- Have willingness to engage with and produce accurate and timely reports.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have an ability to motivate and enthuse learners in the subject matter.
- Demonstrate good organisational skills and adaptability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines/targets.
- Be adaptable and demonstrate knowledge in chosen subject area(s).
- Advocate for and engage consistently in positive team working.
