We have a fantastic opportunity at HMP Deerbolt to join the Novus education team as a Vocational Cover Tutor. This role is offered on a sessional basis, working ad-hoc hours per week. The successful applicant will need to be able to deliver workshops and teach relevant qualifications in one or more of the following subject areas:
- Barbering - C&G Level 2 Certificate in Barbering
- Joinery Enterprise - Social Enterprise
- Joinery - CG Level 1 in Carpentry & Joinery and CG Level 2 in Site Carpentry
- Multiskills - CG Level 1 Extended Certificate in Construction Skills (Tiling, Plumbing and P&D)
- P&D - CG Level 2 Certificate in Painting and Decorating
Site Information: HMP Deerbolt is a Category C Training Prison for Adult Males located near Barnard Castle, County Durham. The prison provides educational programs, vocational training, workshops, healthcare services, and sports facilities. These initiatives are geared towards equipping inmates with skills and support for reintegration into society.

To be successful in the role, you will need to:
- Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
- Hold a Level 3 qualification in English
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Be competent in ICT to a Level 2 standard
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to Teachers in YOI only)
- Have a history or understanding of working effectively with people presenting challenging behaviour.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to motivate and enthuse learners
- Organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
- Positive team working
