HMP Haverigg are seeking enthusiastic individuals to work as ad hoc Cover Learning and Skills Workers within our Education Department. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in supporting learners or pursuing a career in teaching. For the right candidate, teacher training may be available, offering a route into Cover Teacher and future teaching opportunities.

Site Information: HMP Haverigg is situated just outside the Lake District in Millom, Cumbria. The prison houses a male population and actively encourages work through training and education. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
• Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities
• Have experience of successfully working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
• Proven track record of achieving performance targets
• Demonstrate accurate and timely reporting
• Demonstrate team working
• Demonstrate efficient use of IT Systems to find and collate information
• Have excellent customer service
• Have effective communication skills
