We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Transforming Lives, our prison education provider at HMP Forest Bank, working as a Personal and Social Development (PSD) Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, part-time basis and is a 17-hour per week role, which can be delivered across two full days or arranged flexibly to suit the successful candidate and operational requirements.

Site Information: HMP Forest Bank is located in Pendlebury in Salford, Greater Manchester. The prison is a Category B Male Prison that accommodates remand and sentenced offenders. It offers a diverse range of education opportunities and employment support. Individuals can work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Role Responsibilities: The role is predominantly wing-based, delivering a range of accredited and non-accredited programmes designed to support personal development, wellbeing and positive behaviour change. You will plan and deliver engaging, learner-centred PSD sessions that help learners build confidence, resilience, personal effectiveness and the skills needed for successful progression. Subject areas may include Healthy Living, Family Relationships, Money Management, Conflict Awareness, Assertiveness and Decision-Making Skills, Understanding My Anger, and Mentoring and Peer Support. You will create inclusive learning environments, adapt teaching to meet individual learner needs, and use effective assessment and feedback to support achievement. You will maintain accurate learner records, support accreditation requirements and work collaboratively with colleagues across education and the wider establishment.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification, or be willing to work towards one qualification within an agreed timescale.
• Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Have experience of delivering high-quality, learner-focused teaching, ideally within Personal and Social Development or a related curriculum area.
• Be able to create stimulating and inclusive learning environments that motivate learners and support positive outcomes.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and enthuse learners.
• Have strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.
• Work positively as part of a team and contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, learning and learner achievement.
