This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring Learning and Skills Workers who would like to progress into teaching while working in a permanent, full-time Learning and Support role. We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Moorland, working as a Learning and Skills Worker. This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis working 37 hours per week.

Site Information: HMP Moorland is located near Hatfield Woodhouse in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. It is a Category C prison that houses adult male offenders. It offers various rehabilitation and Education programs. The prison aims to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.
Role Responsibilities: You will be recruited as a Learning and Skills Worker, with the aspiration to develop within teaching. You will support teaching cover and annual leave while developing your skills and experience. When covering teaching sessions, you will be paid in accordance with teaching pay scales.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Willingness to develop and work towards a Level 5 Certificate in Education
- Willingness to develop a subject specialism in Maths or English
- Aspiration to progress into a Maths or English Teacher role
- At least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Enthusiasm and commitment to a career in teaching
- Experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
- Experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities
- Proven track record of achieving performance targets
- Demonstrate accurate and timely reporting
- Demonstrate team working
- Have effective communication skills
