Based Gateshead office; covering sites around the North East and Yorkshire. Hybrid role - working Monday to Friday, typically 8.30am – 5.00pm. Within our Tenanted Social Housing refurbishment programs, commercially supporting the delivery of internal and external planned works including retrofit, you will work both from our office, home and on site, collaborating with your team in an environment that is inclusive and fair for everyone. Working on full end to end life cycle of a project including sub contractor procurement and mobilisation. The role is to obtain and evaluate information to ensure a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials, and services for designated Refurbishment/Projects. Whilst liaising with Contractors, Suppliers and Clients to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of designated project/contracts. Your expertise will be shared with our Apprentice Quantity Surveyor in the team and due to new Contract wins you will be given the opportunity to become autonomous in the role.

An outline of your responsibility as a Quantity Surveyor
- Assist in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids, and tenders to demanding timescales.
- Assist in the development of the procurement programme.
- Prepare and monitor cash flow forecast for designated projects.
- Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment to the Client/Client’s representative.
- Prepare monthly valuation reports.
- Submit invoices for certified value and ensure payments are received on time.
- Value and authorise payments to sub-contractors.
- Liaise with Contract Managers to establish the project specification and requirements.
- Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and or Clients/Customers when necessary, building relationships and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Monitor the contract progress, assess, and report any changes that may affect project costs and or time scale.
- Assist in the control of contract budgets.
About You
You will have experience of working as a Quantity Surveyor ideally within the Social Housing sector but not essential, refurbishment experience working on multiple contracts is a must. Your expertise as a Surveyor will give you the knowledge to hit the ground running and contribute effectively to the team. Knowledge of JCT and Measure Term Contracts is vital to the role. Attention to detail and great written and verbal communication skills will be essential to your success. And you will be an expert with IT with proficient MS office skills. You also must hold a Full UK Driving Licence as travel is a must with this role. The role will also require a DBS check.
