Location: Burton, with travel required to tenanted and/or void domestic properties across the Derby and Uttoxeter area. Typically, Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.

As a Window & Door Fitter for Novus Property Solutions, you’ll be responsible for the safe, efficient and high-quality installation, repair and replacement of windows and associated fixtures within domestic properties. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, pride in your workmanship and a strong customer focus are essential.

The role goes beyond window fitting alone and will involve related multi-skilled tasks including making good, minor joinery, sealing, trims, associated repairs and general finishing works. You’ll work in line with Novus standards, manufacturer guidance, customer requirements and relevant health and safety procedures, representing Novus professionally and respectfully in residents’ homes.

An outline of your responsibilities and experience:

  • Install, repair and replace windows and associated components within domestic properties, ensuring all works are completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Remove existing windows and prepare openings safely and appropriately before installation.
  • Fit windows, frames, glazing units and associated fixtures securely and accurately, in line with manufacturer guidance and Novus quality expectations.
  • Complete associated multi-skilled works including minor joinery, trims, sealing, making good, ironmongery, locks, latches, handles and general finishing.
  • Carry out minor repairs and adjustments to UPVC, timber and/or composite windows and associated fixtures, where competent to do so.
  • Leave all installations neat, weatherproof, functional and ready for customer use, ensuring work areas are clean, tidy and safe on completion.
  • Identify and report any additional repairs, defects, access issues or health and safety concerns that may affect completion of the work.
  • Work from job tickets or handheld devices, ensuring updates, photographs and records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with residents before, during and after works, explaining the work being carried out and treating their homes with care and respect.
  • Work effectively with supervisors, planners, operational teams, other trades, subcontractors, SHEA and customer service teams to support smooth delivery of works.

Experience:

  • Installing, repairing or replacing windows within domestic properties is essential, along with practical experience completing associated multi-skilled finishing works.
  • Experience working in social housing, tenanted properties, responsive repairs, planned works or refurbishment would be advantageous.

Essential qualifications:

  • Fenestration Installation Level 2 and a Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable qualifications and training:

  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Joinery, Carpentry or a related trade, along with relevant safe working accreditations such as Asbestos Awareness, Face Fit, Manual Handling, Working at Height or PASMA.

A DBS check may be required, depending on the contract.
