This programme is designed to give you the practical skills, qualifications, and personal development needed to become a fully qualified Painter & Decorator. You’ll be supported throughout your journey with structured training, hands‑on experience, and guidance from experienced professionals, helping you grow and reach your full potential.

What you can expect:
As an apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople carrying out refurbishment work in customers’ homes. The focus of the role is delivering high‑quality internal and external painting works in customers’ homes. During your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to diversify into Specialist Coatings.
What You’ll Learn
- Work Methods – Understand the purpose of a range of equipment & tools and how to use, store and maintain them safely and the reaction of materials to atmospheric conditions
- Product & Specifications – Gain expert knowledge of product types, drying, curing, effects of colour, interpreting specifications and colour choices
- Preparation & Removal – Learn preparation methods both traditional and modern, techniques of application, removal, wallpaper hanging and identifying substrates
- Health & Safety – To learn the principles of health, safety and welfare and how these are applied in the workplace including handling hazardous substances
- Team work – The role will give the skills and abilities to not only be part of a team but to play an active role within a busy team.
- Stakeholder Management – Developing and maintaining relationships with Managers, Colleagues and Customers
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn and develop in a hands‑on role. Ideally, you will have GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4–9 / A*– C), although this is not essential. More importantly, you will:
- Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Be willing to learn and take on new challenges
- Enjoy practical, physical work
- Be a reliable team player
Please note: This apprenticeship is not suitable for candidates who already hold (or are studying towards) a Level 2 qualification in painting. A DBS check will also be required.
