As an apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced tradespeople carrying out refurbishment work in customers' homes. The focus of the role is delivering high-quality internal and external painting works in customers' homes.
During your apprenticeship, you will:
- Achieve a Level 2 Painting & Decorating qualification
- Develop into a qualified painter specialising on decent homes
What You'll Learn:
- Work Methods – Understand the purpose of a range of equipment & tools and how to use, store and maintain them safely and the reaction of materials to atmospheric conditions
- Product & Specifications – Gain expert knowledge of product types, drying, curing, effects of colour, interpreting specifications and colour choices
- Preparation & Removal – Learn preparation methods both traditional and modern, techniques of application, removal, wallpaper hanging and identifying substrates
- Health & Safety – To learn the principles of health, safety and welfare and how these are applied in the workplace including handling hazardous substances
- Team work – The role will give you skills and abilities to be part of a team and play an active role within a busy team
- Stakeholder Management – Developing and maintaining relationships with Managers, Colleagues and Customers
Our Expectations:
We're looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn and develop in a hands‑on role.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4‑9 / A–C), although this is not essential
Key Personal Attributes:
- Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Be willing to learn and take on new challenges
- Enjoy practical, physical work
- Be a reliable team player
Please note: This apprenticeship is not suitable for candidates who already hold (or are studying towards) a Level 2 qualification in painting. A DBS check will also be required.
Benefits & Compensation:
- Rates of pay – £8.00 per hour, with annual increases
- Potential salary earnings once qualified – £32,000
- Working hours – 39 per week (Monday to Friday) (inclusive of day release)
