Overview
Key Purpose of Job: To work as a member of the security team for the protection of persons and property and thereby the provision of a safe and secure environment.
Responsibilities
- Being able to deal with effectively verbal and physical confrontation.
- The maintenance of good order while on duty including the protection of everyone therein against violent acts, abuse and accident.
- The protection of clients’ property against loss, theft, damage (including fire and water) and waste.
- The protection of private property belonging to clients, their staff and visitors against loss, theft and damage.
- Confronting individuals whose actions are anti-social or not authorised on client property.
- Prevent offences against the law of the land, company’s disciplinary codes and policies and ensure all are brought to the attention of the management.
- Where applicable, taking enforcement action including taking statements, issuing cautions, writing reports for case files and pocket book entries.
- Liaising with Police, Community Safety Wardens and client staff to ensure a coordinated approach and awareness of local and client issues.
- Ensure basic fire precautions are in place and means of escape are clear.
- CCTV monitoring including remote monitoring where required.
- Access control for all premises, patrolling and general security duties.
- Assisting with special visits as required.
- Carrying out in a professional and diligent manner all other duties properly assignable to the position of a professional Security Operative / Close Protection Officer.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of incidents and site visit logs.
- Dealing with communications from telephone calls and radio users in a professional manner in accordance with operating procedures.
- Exchanging all necessary information to colleagues during shift change.
- Provide support and work closely with CCTV Staff.
- Officer should also be available for Static and Door assignments as well.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- All employees will ensure that they; Take care of their own safety and that of others.
- Ensure that products, plant, equipment, vehicles and buildings are not damaged.
- Comply with health and safety procedures and instructions.
- Will not neglect, misuse, damage anything provided in the interest of health and safety.
- Assist by reporting to their Line Manager any hazard, accident, damage or defect in order that remedial action may be undertaken.
- Undergo any training or instruction to enable them to work competently and safely.
Key Working Relationships
Assignment Supervisor, Clients designated officer, Police, Community Groups and Government Enforcement Agencies.

- The Company operates a Smoke-Free Policy and the post-holder is prohibited from smoking in any of the Company’s buildings (including Company owned and Clients buildings, but excluding designated areas), enclosed spaces within the curtilage of buildings, and Company vehicles. Staff will not be released for a break that is specifically for smoking.
- The post-holder is expected to familiarize themselves with and adhere to all relevant Company Policies and Procedures.
- The post-holder must comply with the Company’s Health and Safety requirements.

Knowledge
- An understanding of a basic Police and other Emergency Services procedures.
- Knowledge of the phonetic alphabet.
- Basic knowledge of locations / streets.
- CCTV Monitoring experience.
- Experience of radio use.
- Military or police background (preferred but not essential).
- Willing to commit to further training if required.
