Make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. Hello Education is proud to be working with several specialist SEND schools in Darlington who are seeking dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistants to join their teams. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the learning and development of students with a range of additional needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. You will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings, supporting them in achieving their personal and educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Implement tailored learning strategies to promote engagement and achievement.
  • Assist in managing behaviour effectively, maintaining a calm and positive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing confidence, independence, and resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure consistency and progress.
  • Promote inclusion and uphold the schools values of respect, understanding, and care.

Person Specification

We welcome applications from individuals who:

  • Have experience (or a strong interest in gaining experience) working with children or young people with additional educational needs or behavioural challenges, ideally in a school or care setting.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Are patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate (or are willing to obtain one prior to starting).
  • Have training and/or experience in Moving and Handling (desirable).
