The NEC Supervisor will oversee the DRAX Beneficiation Pulverised Fuel Ash (PFA) project, ensuring quality, safety, and programme compliance. This hands-on role requires a competent team player with expertise in NEC4 ECC (Option A), CDM regulations, and a strong understanding of MEP, civil engineering, and general construction. The role involves working within a small team, contributing to tender processes, monitoring short-term programmes (STP), and providing detailed reporting. The position is site-based with no remote working and requires excellent record-keeping and the ability to work with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as NEC4 Supervisor, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, quality standards, and programme adherence.
  • Monitor and report on the contractor’s quality plan, safety protocols, and short-term programme (STP) compliance.
  • Oversee temporary and permanent works, with the ability to interpret and comment on outline designs through to construction issue drawings.
  • Contribute to tender processes, company inductions, and pre-construction surveys.
  • Conduct site-based compliance checks, including quality, safety, and programme adherence.
  • Support offsite activities, including witnessing factory acceptance tests (domestically and internationally from time to time).
  • Maintain thorough records and provide detailed reports to the Senior Construction Manager and wider team.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and NEC4 ECC (Option A) supervisor roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist with sectional and final project handover processes, and defects identification and mitigation/correction.
  • Collaborate with contractors, stakeholders, and the Joint Venture Partner (DRAX) as required.
  • Undertake additional duties as directed by the Senior Construction Manager, including organising pre-construction activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC4 ECC (Option A) and supervisor responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of CDM regulations and technical construction drawings.
  • 5-day first aid at work certificate.
  • CSCS card commensurate with position Safety Passport.
  • NVQ L4 or above.
  • 10 years or above within the construction industry, at least 5 in a role equal to this job description.
  • Chartered status preferable.
  • Driving Licence with own vehicle Insured business use.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products and CRM, such as Fastdraft, CEMAR, Sypro, Oracle or similar.
  • Formal training in NEC supervisors or Clerk of Works role preferred.
  • Comprehensive experience in MEP, civil engineering, and general construction.
  • Proven ability to monitor and report on quality, safety, and programme compliance.
  • Familiarity with temporary and permanent works design and construction processes.
  • Experience producing and monitoring short-term programmes (STP).
  • Excellent verbal, written and communicative, record-keeping, reporting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and independently with limited supervision.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required for factory acceptance tests and marking of site from time to time.
  • Previous experience in client or principal contractor environments with stakeholder engagement.
Desirable Experience:
  • Previous NEC Supervisor experience on similar projects.
  • Familiarity with preconstruction activity, demolition plans, access road design, and electrical isolations as and other things as early works.
  • Experience working with Joint Venture partners and managing interfaces with stakeholders, both internal and external.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time, site-based role with no remote working.
  • Occasional national and international travel for offsite activities.
  • Collaborative work environment under the direction of the Senior Construction Manager.
Contract Details:
  • Duration: Until October 2026.
  • Options: Fixed-term contract, limited status, or agency recruitment outside IR35 (all-inclusive rate).
  • Expenses reimbursed for work at offsite locations.
