Overview
The Director of Sales in our hotel plays a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and maximising occupancy by leading the Sales and Marketing team in creating, defining, and implementing strategic initiatives that attract guests, increase bookings, and enhance brand visibility.
The role involves leading the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities, including corporate accounts, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions), and leisure sales.
The position also oversees the development and launch of marketing campaigns and promotional activities to increase brand awareness, and creates special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel to potential clients.
Travel to trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and expand sales and marketing opportunities for the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Lead the sales team in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including corporate accounts, MICE, and leisure sales.
- Oversee the development and launch of marketing campaigns and promotional activities to increase brand awareness.
- Create and develop special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel to potential clients.
- Attend trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities for the hotel.
- Develop strong relationships with key clients, corporate accounts, and industry partners.
- Regularly review the hotel\'s commercial strategy, identify new revenue streams and maximise profitability and market position.
- Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans; manage departmental budgets and sales goals to ensure targets and objectives are met, maximising profitability.
- Create an engaging environment for the team by motivating them through recognition, reward, training and development, with a strong focus on retention.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to manage conflict and improve performance.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and motivational abilities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Show strong attention to detail and drive to maintain high standards; possess proven experience in managing, coaching and developing sales teams.
- Have strong knowledge of local businesses and business trends, with excellent commercial understanding to drive new business and grow market share.
- Display a strong grasp of sales processes, methodologies, and best practices; possess excellent negotiation skills and the ability to close business.
- Show strong analytical and organisational skills; act as a self-starter who can independently drive results.

- Demonstrate a proven track record of hotel experience in a similar position; high standard of English, both written and spoken; previous experience with large MICE space sales.
