How You\’ll Perform The Role
Waddington Europe has a vacancy for a Shift Manager in the Thermoforming Department at the Bridgwater site. You will manage the shift, prioritising safety, delivering the plan efficiently and cost‑productively, and ensuring the best use of equipment, resources and people.
Shift pattern (3‑shift rotational):
9:15 pm – 6:15 am Sunday–Thursday,
05:15 am – 2:15 pm Monday–Friday, followed by
13:15 pm – 10:15 pm Monday‑Friday. Working 8.5 hours per day, full time.
What We Need From You
- Run the shift according to plan, manage and report deviations, complete end‑of‑shift reports.
- Ensure accurate production reporting and smooth transition onto the next shift.
- Prioritise labour utilisation to meet production and customer demands.
- Meet efficiency targets while upholding high quality and safety procedures.
- Improve staff efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Attend daily meetings when required.
- Ensure tool changes are performed in allocated time and pre‑preparations highlighted to minimise downtime.
- Use the plan to prioritise machine run order for maximum productivity.
- Carry out all manual and visual tests and checks.
- Label all goods appropriately and ensure documentation is attached.
- Assist in training less experienced staff and offer help and guidance.
- Undergo additional training as required.
- Comply with all policies and procedures for a safe and healthy workplace.
- Support environmental and quality management procedures.
- Authorise holidays, sick leave, return‑to‑work interviews and maintain TMS systems.
- Arrange staff overtime as requested.
- Conduct yearly and year‑end appraisals.
- Investigate and handle disciplinary matters as requested.
- Perform quality checks and resolve non‑conforming items following NCR procedures.
- Instil a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Assist with company stock‑takes.
- Communicate effectively with the production manager, site lead and all other departments.
- Undertake additional duties, training or hours of work as reasonably required.
- Lead by example in wearing the required uniform and PPE.
