Waddington Europe has a vacancy for a Toolroom Technician in the Thermoforming Department at our Bridgwater site. Responsible for preparing tools for thermoforming processes, including the mould pressure box anvil, cutters, stacker, catcher, blade threads, and identifying any additional repairs needed to ensure smooth production. This position is a permanent, full-time role available on a 2 shift rotation:
- Week 1: 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday working 7.5 hours per day.
- Week 2: 7am - 3pm Monday to Friday working 7.5 hours per day.
What We Need From You:
- Perform basic engineering repairs such as drilling and tapping
- Hand polish tools to ensure optimal performance
- Prepare tools for production, change castings, change knives on all machine types
- Thoroughly inspect new tooling upon arrival to ensure compliance with specification sheets
- Conduct maintenance and overhaul of all plant tooling, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records are maintained for auditing purposes
- Assist in diagnosing tooling issues that affect processing
- Demonstrate proficiency in changing over Thermoforming Machines and possess a solid understanding of the Thermoforming process and tool design
- Diagnose process problems relating to the tooling
- Proficient in interpreting tool drawings
- Manage blade stock control, including restocking and maintaining records of incoming and outgoing blades, as well as tool repairs
- Conduct deep cleaning of castings and equipment using ultrasonic bath technology
- Extracting and replacing Heli coils and snapped bolts
- Perform re-tapping of bolts when necessary
- Repair castings as needed
- Utilize Epicor, including MRP functions, and complete all tooling sheets accurately, entering data into the system
- Support colleagues and the manager to maintain efficiency and smooth operation of the tool room
- Interfaces and communicates with management, employees, internal customers, and suppliers
- Participate in necessary training to enhance skills required for maintaining tooling and associated equipment
- Ensure quality, hygiene and housekeeping standards are maintained to comply with company standards
- Ensure the company Health and Safety Policy is always adhered to in and around the plant
- Lead by example in all everyday activities
- Set a positive example by following proper procedures and wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Comply with all policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment is maintained
- Adhere to the company’s environmental and quality management procedures
- Able to operate a pivot/flexi forklift truck
- Carry out any reasonable duties if requested that are within your abilities, irrespective of skill level
