The business is going through an exciting period of growth and transformation, and as a result we are helping them to recruit an experienced Managing Director who will be tasked with achieving growth and positive change to ensure they remain at the forefront of the industry with market leading products and solutions. A key component of their growth will come organically, while they will also be looking at acquisitions which complement their offering.
As Managing Director you will lead the strategic direction, operational excellence, and commercial performance of this automotive aftermarket manufacturer, operating from the UK with coverage across Europe. You will shape and execute a growth-focused agenda, balancing day-to-day execution with long-term strategic development.
The role carries full P&L ownership, responsibility for the income statement, balance sheet and leadership of all operational, commercial, and functional activities. The incoming Managing Director will be a hands-on value creator, focused on EBITDA growth, sales/market growth, cash generation, operational excellence, and execution of the capital investment initiatives. This role will suit an experienced and commercially astute leader with a proven record of scaling relevant and comparable businesses and delivering value through both organic and acquisitive growth.
Skills and Experience
- Exceptional commercial leadership skills and a successful track record of operating in a business leadership position for a comparably sized business in a relevant industry.
- Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, with at least 5+ years at executive level within automotive aftermarket, commercial vehicle or related engineered products industries.
- Proven track record of leading and growing businesses of comparable size, with full P&L accountability.
- Experience operating successfully within private equity-backed or similarly performance-driven business environments.
- Strong operational and commercial acumen, with a hands-on approach and strategic mindset.
- Deep understanding of international business operations, supply chain management, and regulatory frameworks.
- Inspirational leadership style with excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading multi-site and/or multi-country European operations.
- Hands-on leader with the ability to operate from Boardroom to shop floor.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
