NOVO People is delighted to be recruiting an HSE Officer for one of Northern Ireland's fastest-growing companies. Based at a busy manufacturing facility in Belfast, this is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious organisation that continues to invest in its people, operations and safety standards. You will be a visible presence across the site, working closely with production, engineering, maintenance and management teams. The Role

As HSE Officer, you will support the delivery of health, safety and environmental standards across the manufacturing site. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out regular workplace inspections and safety audits
  • Completing and reviewing risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Supporting production, engineering and maintenance teams with practical HSE advice
  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses
  • Identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are completed
  • Monitoring workplace risks, including machinery, manual handling, workplace transport and contractor activity
  • Delivering inductions, toolbox talks and health and safety training
  • Supporting permit-to-work and contractor control arrangements
  • Maintaining accurate HSE records, reports and performance information
  • Assisting with internal audits and compliance reviews
  • Supporting the development and improvement of HSE policies and procedures
  • Promoting employee engagement and encouraging a positive safety culture
  • Helping ensure the site remains compliant with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation

This role will be particularly well suited to someone with experience in a manufacturing, production, engineering or industrial environment.

You should have:

  • Previous experience in an HSE Officer, Health and Safety Officer or Safety Advisor role
  • Experience working within Manufacturing, Construction or another Industrial setting
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent health and safety qualification
  • A good working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
  • Experience completing risk assessments, inspections and incident investigations
  • Confidence working closely with operational, production and engineering teams
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to challenge unsafe practices in a professional and constructive way
  • A practical, visible and hands-on approach
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 would be beneficial
