Ready to build scalable data platforms and ML pipelines that enable analytics, AI and research across R&D? Bring engineering excellence to data that drives discovery and impact – and help us defeat serious chronic diseases.
Your new role
As a Senior Data Engineer in our Data Ingestion team, you will be at the heart of Novo Nordisk's data-driven transformation. You will design and build the scalable infrastructure that enables scientists, researchers, and AI specialists to unlock insights that defeat serious chronic diseases.
You will:
- Design and develop scalable data solutions by building robust applications and pipelines for data extraction, transformation, ingestion, and management that support analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
- Ensure high-quality and optimised data engineering processes by applying best practices, conducting testing and validation, and delivering solutions that meet reliability, scalability, and performance standards.
- Provision data for analytics, AI, and ML by preparing, managing, and delivering high-quality datasets for traditional reporting, advanced analytics, AI/ML development, and broader business needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to understand business requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and deliver data products that support strategic and operational goals.
- Drive technical excellence within the Data & ML Engineering area by representing the cluster in cross-functional settings, mentoring junior colleagues, and continuously improving engineering methods, techniques, and approaches.
Your new department
You will join the Data Ingestion team within the AI and Digital Innovation organisation, partnering closely with Data Science, AI & Analytics and data-producing departments across R&D. Together we scale data infrastructure and pipelines that underpin analytics, ML modelling and research.
Your skills & qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should:
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or a related field.
- Have a minimum 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines.
- Have a strong proficiency in cloud computing platforms and data/scripting programming languages (e.g., Python, Scala).
- Have hands-on experience building data pipelines, embedding retrieval/feature stores, and working with orchestration tools, version control and CI/CD.
- Have a deep expertise in ETL processes, data pipeline architecture, and designing scalable data applications.
- Have experience with Agile development methodologies and collaborative, cross-functional project delivery.
As a person, you are a proactive problem-solver who works independently on most technical challenges while knowing when to involve others on complex issues. You communicate clearly and confidently, ensuring that technical topics are understood by both engineering and business stakeholders. You take an active role in team development — supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge, and continuously seeking opportunities to improve ways of working and enhance the team’s overall impact.
