Overview
In this role you translate cardiometabolic biology into actionable insights for drug discovery, shaping translational science within TIM to support target discovery and maturation. You work with cross-functional teams to develop human-relevant models and interpret multi-modal data, driving evidence-based decisions. You will lead and mentor projects, strategize experimentation, and partner with external collaborators to advance pipeline opportunities. This is a high-impact, research-driven position at Novo Nordisk’s TIM in the UK with a clear focus on delivering translational value.
Responsibilities
- Shape scientific strategy and translate hypotheses into practical discovery approaches
- Design and implement translational human cell-based cardiometabolic disease models with functional, imaging and omics readouts
- Develop automation-friendly functional genomics- and chemical-based screening workflows using Design of Experiment (DoE) principles and deliver reproducible FAIR data
- Integrate in vitro outputs with in vivo, ex vivo, genetics, clinical and real-world data using digital/AI tools to identify targets, mechanisms and translational signals
- Lead drug target diligence, develop evidence-based target profiles and present recommendations to support pipeline decisions
- Collaborate across disciplines and with external partners; mentor colleagues and promote knowledge sharing
- Role scope (Senior vs Principal) will depend on the level at which you join the team
Key requirements
- Experience in industry drug discovery or translational research
- Proven track record in developing translational human cell-based cardiometabolic disease models with functional, imaging and omics readouts
- Experience building automation-friendly screening workflows, applying DoE, and producing high-quality FAIR data
- Strong ability to integrate multi-modal data and use digital/AI tools for target and mechanism discovery
- Proven track record leading scientific projects, influencing stakeholders, and mentoring colleagues
- Desirable: experience in novel drug target diligence and evidence package generation
