In this role, you will bridge the worlds of science and strategy, shaping medical affairs initiatives that directly impact patient outcomes across the UK healthcare system.

Your new role

As one of two Medical Advisors in Rare Disease, you will be the medical expert and strategic partner for our rare disease portfolio, working at the intersection of science, clinical practice, and patient impact. You will collaborate extensively across functions and geographies to ensure our innovative treatments reach the patients who need them most.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving medical strategy – Lead key medical and scientific projects within rare disease, translating insights from patients, healthcare professionals and health systems into actionable Medical Affairs plans.
  • Building scientific partnerships – Identify and develop relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, manage advisory boards, and facilitate high-quality medical education through omnichannel approaches.
  • Supporting evidence generation – Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop integrated evidence plans, support clinical trials, and drive publication planning and strategy.
  • Enabling cross-functional excellence – Provide expert medical and scientific advice to marketing, sales, and market access teams on disease areas and Novo Nordisk products.
  • Ensuring compliance leadership – Act as ABPI final signatory, ensuring all materials and activities meet PMCPA, MHRA and regulatory requirements.
  • Shaping clinical care pathways – Partner with healthcare systems and medical associations to identify solutions that improve patient outcomes along the care journey.
  • Building organisational capability – Provide training and guidance to Medical Affairs, Education teams and cross-functional colleagues on scientific execution.
  • Being the voice of the patient

This role is based at Novo Nordisk’s UK office in Gatwick.

Your skills & qualifications

This role requires a unique combination of rare disease expertise, medical affairs experience, and exceptional collaborative skills. To succeed in this role you should:

  • Be a registered medical practitioner (GMC) or a UK‑registered pharmacist (essential).
  • Hold an ABPI Final Medical Signatory qualification (essential). If not already qualified, be able to complete the training and pass the examination within 6–12 months.
  • Have a strong background in rare disease, with a clear understanding of patient journeys and therapeutic landscapes.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Medical Advisor or in a similar Medical Affairs role within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Be an excellent communicator, able to translate complex clinical data for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively across functions and geographies and to engage external stakeholders, including HCPs and patient advocacy groups.
  • Be a collaborative team player who builds trusted relationships and shares knowledge proactively.
  • Be willing to travel as required to support territories and attend medical congresses.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
