Shape the stories that change how the UK thinks about health. In a moment when conversations about chronic disease have never been more public, you'll lead the consumer media and influencer engagement that puts Novo Nordisk at the heart of culture – credibly, creatively and compliantly.
This is a rare opportunity to bring an earned-first, consumer-first mindset to one of the most talked-about areas in healthcare today. As Communications Manager – Consumer Media & Influencer Engagement, you'll lead how we tell our story to the UK public – translating complex science into culturally relevant narratives and building the relationships, assets and influencer programmes that make those stories land.
Day-to-day, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering a proactive consumer and lifestyle media strategy aligned to UK communications priorities, and building strong relationships with journalists, editors and key media stakeholders.
- Identifying, shaping and landing compelling stories that turn complex science and disease areas into accessible, culturally relevant narratives, and maintaining a forward-looking pipeline of features and media moments.
- Designing and leading influencer and creator engagement strategies – including selection, vetting, management and evaluation – ensuring full compliance with the ABPI Code of Practice and internal governance.
- Building a strong bank of media-ready assets, case studies and spokesperson materials, and sharing best practice to lift media and influencer capability across the wider team.
- Monitoring media, cultural and social trends to spot opportunities, anticipate reputational risks and feed insight back into campaign planning.
- Partnering with cross-functional teams across marketing, medical, legal and regulatory to shape integrated, earned-first campaigns that resonate with public audiences.
- Contributing to the weekly media rota, monitoring and responding to media enquiries and coverage.
You'll join the UK Corporate Affairs team – a close-knit group of communicators and public affairs specialists shaping how Novo Nordisk shows up with media, patients, policymakers and the public. This role sits at the centre of our consumer-facing storytelling ambition, working alongside global and regional communications colleagues to build reach, relevance and trust at a defining moment for our organisation.
Your skills & qualifications:
- Strong experience in media relations, PR or communications with a clear focus on consumer or lifestyle media – gained in agency, in-house or journalism environments (FMCG experience preferred), with a proven track record of securing high-quality proactive coverage.
- Demonstrated experience designing and managing influencer and creator programmes, including selection, vetting, evaluation and a solid understanding of regulatory considerations.
- Excellent news sense and the ability to translate complex or scientific information into engaging, accessible content for public audiences.
- Experience working within or alongside regulated environments with demonstrable ability to apply regulations to external communications.
- Strong project management, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the judgement to operate autonomously in fast-paced, external-facing situations.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as communications/ journalism/ business management/ science) from a reputed university.
