Our client is a well-established manufacturer of large mechanically biased machinery supplied to some of the world’s largest blue-chip organisations. With a global reach and multiple subsidiary businesses, their product offering has a wide reach in the market.

There is a requirement for a new Manufacturing Procurement Manager; an experienced purchasing professional, hands-on and forward-thinking in nature, able to lead and develop a procurement team within the manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for a leader who not only understands strategic sourcing and technical procurement but is also passionate about developing people, building team capability, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the procurement team, managing supplier relationships, cost performance, and sourcing strategies for technical engineering components and services.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance their commercial skills, with tailored development plans and regular feedback.
  • Implement procurement best practices, including risk mitigation, supplier performance management, and long-term sourcing strategies.
  • Collaborate with Design Office, development, production, quality, and finance departments to ensure procurement aligns with all requirements allowing the business to meet the needs of the customer and any project timelines.
  • Support career progression by identifying skill gaps, promoting cross-functional exposure, and facilitating internal/external training.
  • Drive process improvements in sourcing, supplier management, stock reorder level control, contract negotiation, and cost analysis.
  • Monitor market trends, material cost fluctuations, and supply chain risks to inform strategic decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, international regulations, and sustainability targets.
  • Complete reports as needed including a monthly summary including wins and losses and strategy.
  • In conjunction with the Manufacturing Manager develop and write the purchasing strategy for the business.
Qualifications & Experience
  • CIPS qualified
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years' experience in engineering or technical procurement, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven leadership experience, especially in managing and developing teams.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Demonstrated skills in supplier negotiation, cost reduction, and strategic sourcing.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and change management skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (experience with SAP, Oracle, or Dynamics 365 a plus).
