Engineering Design Office Manager

The Client:

Our client, a global leader in innovative sieving and filtration solutions, is seeking a dedicated Engineering Design Office Manager to develop and drive the performance of their design team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader to make a significant impact in a well-established engineering environment.

The Role:

As the Engineering Design Office Manager, you will lead a team of approximately 10, ensuring the delivery of precise technical drawings and CAD models. You will collaborate with sales, planning, production, and R&D teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications and support customised projects while fostering a culture of innovation, on-time delivery and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring the Design Office Team, setting objectives, and providing training.
  • Managing sales orders, project and process workflows to ensure timely and accurate outputs.
  • Overseeing the creation of technical drawings for new and modified equipment, aligned with internal and external manufacturing requirements and global standards.
  • Supporting cross-functional teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting.

What you will bring:

We’re looking for an accomplished leader with:

  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D software, such as AutoCAD, Inventor or Solidworks.
  • A solid grasp of mechanical engineering principles, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven leadership and team development experience, with a track record of fostering collaboration and growth.
  • Strong project management skills to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • A relevant engineering / design qualification and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical drawing office (2+ years in leadership) are essential.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, document control, and electrical principles would be an advantage.
