The predicted salary is between 75000 - 100000 £ per year.

To be part of the Board of a regulated, public-interest smart metering sector business so that it is effective, well-governed and focused on the long-term delivery of its obligations, whilst delivering its agreed strategy and meeting or exceeding operational performance metrics.

The NED will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Board, helping to promote objective judgement, openness and constructive debate, to ensure key strategic decisions are made with the running of this organisation.

  • Strategic contribution to the new Board, ensuring its overall effectiveness, including the quality of discussion, decision-making, challenge and delivery of the company’s strategy and key objectives.
  • Contribute to the organisation’s strategy, performance, risk, internal control, culture, compliance and public-interest delivery.
  • Involvement with the Board’s discussions and attention given to regulatory risk, operational resilience, service continuity and the maintenance of trust in a critical national infrastructure environment.
  • Be part of a Board unit that gives proper attention to customer feedback, contract management findings and transparent performance reporting.
  • Support constructive and transparent engagement with all relevant regulatory or industry bodies on matters affecting the business, its performance and its governance.

They will ideally have experience of working at Board level in an organisation of comparable complexity and will be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and executive leadership in a high-accountability environment. The individual may demonstrate strong governance instincts, personal integrity, the ability to promote constructive challenge and consensus. Understanding of the smart metering regulatory environment and technology used to service customers and end consumers would be a really ‘nice to have’.

A NED track record of being involved with strategy, performance, risk, internal control and organisational change.

Experience of helping Boards instigate and deliver business transformation and efficiency programmes and improvements.

Sound knowledge of corporate governance, director duties and board effectiveness.

Understanding of risk, compliance and assurance in a regulated business.
