Company & The Requirement
Our client is a well-known organisation that is looking to significantly grow their recycling business. The Board have identified a strategic opportunity to significantly grow their recycling division in terms of market share and profitability. Therefore, they would like to recruit a commercially focused recycling sector Director to come in as a General Manager (GM) to lead it.
The Role
Reporting to the company’s CEO, the GM will have the core responsibility to deliver £10m of profit from the Recycling business stream within 3-5 years.
Role Purpose
The purpose of the role entails:
- Providing Executive leadership for rapid, sustainable growth in market share and profitability from the recycling business
- Overseeing organic growth, partnership agreements, and where appropriate recommendations on acquisition targets
- Being highly visible internally, including regular updates to the PLC board
Key Accountabilities
Key accountabilities include:
- Validating and revising the existing Recycling business strategy
- Evaluating and recommending partnerships or acquisitions that would accelerate progress in a non-linear way
- Identifying missing skills and capabilities in existing structures with a view to addressing these gaps
- Developing and executing short and long-term plans for expansion of the Recycling company proposition, tracking industry trends, competitor activities, leveraging opportunities and mitigating risks associated with environmental and other relevant legislation / industry standards.
- Identifying risks and future opportunities that may impact delivery of the plan
- Full profit and loss accountability for this recycling business inclusive of implementing key financial and service metrics and taking corrective actions when required
- Determining and executing go to market strategy for customer proposition, customer acquisition, and pricing
- Working in partnership with other functional directors and teams to ensure mobilisation and stabilisation of the expansion while not compromising delivery of other business activities
- Focusing on customer excellence gathering feedback to work with Operations to refine service offerings
