The Role
As a Maritime Civil Engineer, you’ll work across a wide range of coastal and marine projects, supporting design, analysis, and project delivery from concept through to construction. You’ll take ownership of your work packages, contribute to technical solutions, and gain hands‑on experience across the full project lifecycle. You will work closely with senior engineers who will mentor and support your development, helping you build technical skills, professional judgment, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support design of pontoons, jetties, quay walls, slipways, berthing structures, and other waterfront assets.
- Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, and design reports with guidance.
- Assist with structural, geotechnical, and stability assessments of marine structures.
- Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and quality assurance.
- Help deliver innovative, practical, and cost‑effective solutions for clients.
Project Support
- Work across all project stages: concept, design, consenting, procurement, and construction.
- Assist with tenders, bids, estimates, and technical proposals.
- Participate in site visits, surveys, and inspections to understand real‑world constraints.
- Monitor project progress and flag risks or delays.
- Provide technical assistance to internal teams and external partners.
Regulatory & Environmental Compliance
- Support MMO licence applications and statutory consents.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation and standards (CDM, Eurocodes, BS6349, PIANC).
- Assist with environmental assessments, risk documentation, and sustainability‑led design.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Civil, Structural, Marine, or Coastal Engineering.
- Interest or experience in maritime/coastal engineering.
- Experience with AutoCAD; familiarity with structural tools (Robot, STAAD, etc.) is a plus.
- Understanding of engineering standards and regulations.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to take responsibility.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to visit sites.
- Either working towards ICE Chartership or intending to start — structured support provided.
