Responsibilities & Qualifications

What awaits you:

  • Working with the local senior management at Latchford, the post holder will provide support and expertise to ensure safe production in their area of responsibility, supporting daily operations to reach operational targets through defined processes, leading the area in productivity improvements while maintaining the right quality standards.
  • Accountabilities include:
    • Providing technical support for fault-finding and process development for scrap pre-treatment, melting, metal treatment and/or casting.
    • Maintaining reporting of KPIs to ensure the Plant moves in the right direction.
    • Understanding and utilising Continuous Improvement Problem Solving techniques in line with the Novelis Operating System.
    • Participating in Safety, Continuous Improvement, and Energy focused GEMBAs.
    • Establishing close relationship with the site stakeholders and internal customers.
    • Maintaining statistical data for area of responsibility.
    • Ensuring compliance to Novelis manufacturing and quality standards.
    • Utilising site Pi system and data analysis to form Process/Operating Standards.
    • Continuously improving processes to optimise operations whilst maintaining a stable process.

How you convince us:

Individuals are expected to have a relevant engineering or metallurgy degree with 5+ years of industrial experience, preferably in a similar industry or process. In addition, they should have:

  • A thorough technical grounding and knowledge of quality processes, with knowledge of ISO 9001 desired.
  • Desirable previous experience of working with molten metal treatment operations.
  • An open communicative style with the ability to build cooperative relationships and networks at all levels of the business.
  • The potential to grow in the role with the capacity and leadership to eventually become a senior expert and/or manager in this area of expertise.
  • Good understanding of safety practices.
  • Advanced Microsoft skills, and experience of SAP and Power BI.
  • Can do attitude, strong work ethic and able to organise and plan their own work schedule.

Engineering graduates will also be considered as a development role.

Location Profile

The Novelis Latchford plant, a suburb of Warrington Cheshire in England, employs approximately 200 employees. It is one of Europe’s largest aluminium used beverage cans recycling plants and Europe’s largest closed-loop recycling operation for automotive aluminium rolled products with an annual recycling capacity of up to 195000 tonnes. The plant is an essential part of Novelis’ European production and collaborated with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to create the first closed-loop system in Europe with a dedicated railway service to efficiently deliver aluminium between Novelis and JLR’s production site in the UK. The Latchford plant is committed to its community in supporting math and science education to local schools as well as sharing the value of safety and works with a local charitable foundation to sponsor health. In addition, Novelis UK supports the program “Every Can Counts” to actively promote can recycling across Europe.
