Job Description

Site Surveying Engineer - Structural Steel Projects

We are seeking a proactive and professional Site Surveying Engineer to join a leading contractor delivering complex steel structures across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on landmark projects while developing your career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, and execute site engineering surveying activities, supporting the Site Manager with quality assurance and day-to-day project delivery.

  • Carry out pre-commencement base inspections, structural alignments, and as-built surveys.

  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with safety, environmental, and company standards.

  • Maintain accurate records including daily diaries, calibration logs, and survey data.

  • Liaise with subcontractors to ensure survey accuracy and verify works where required.

  • Foster strong working relationships with clients, site teams, and stakeholders.

  • Support and oversee subcontract surveyors as needed.

  • Contribute to a positive safety culture through active engagement in safety practices.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in setting out and alignment of medium and low-rise structures, portal frames, industrial/process plants, and refurbishment/welding projects.

  • Strong understanding of construction site practices, health & safety, Eurocode, BS, and NSSS requirements.

  • Proficient in surveying equipment (Leica, Trimble, GNSS) and software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D).

  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

  • CSCS Site Engineering Surveyor (or equivalent).

  • SMSTS & 4-day First Aid certification.

  • Qualification in total station surveying equipment.

  • Full UK driving licence.
