This is an opportunity for a commercially aware Estimator to join an established structural steelwork specialist, working on a varied range of projects from straightforward building frames through to more complex structural steelwork.
You'll be responsible for taking enquiries from initial review through to detailed tender, assessing drawings and specifications, identifying commercially viable opportunities and working closely with clients and internal teams to make sure projects are priced accurately and competitively.
The RoleAs an Estimator, you'll play an important role in the front end of the business, helping to identify the right opportunities and ensuring tenders are prepared accurately and efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing incoming enquiries and reviewing opportunities for commercial viabilityWorking from detailed drawings, specifications and project informationPreparing accurate and detailed estimates for clientsReviewing quantities, materials, labour and other project requirementsSupporting the preparation and submission of tendersLiaising with clients throughout the estimating and tender processWorking closely with Design, Contracts, Production and other internal departmentsBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with existing clientsSupporting the development of new client relationships and business opportunitiesManaging multiple enquiries and tenders while working to tight deadlinesEnsuring estimates are commercially competitive while remaining achievableProviding clear and accurate information to support successful project deliveryWhat We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who understands the estimating process and can confidently work through technical drawings and specifications.
You'll ideally have: Previous experience in an estimating roleExperience within structural steel, steel fabrication, construction or a related industryA practical understanding of the estimating and tendering processThe ability to interpret detailed technical drawings and specificationsStrong commercial awarenessExcellent attention to detail and accuracyStrong communication and relationship-building skillsThe ability to manage a varied workload and multiple deadlinesGood organisational and time-management skillsA relevant technical or engineering qualification would be advantageousStructural steel experience is desirable, but candidates from closely related engineering or construction environments may also be considered.
