An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced SHEQ Manager to join a growing engineering and construction business delivering projects across multiple sectors including steel fabrication, construction, cladding, machining and civil engineering. This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to shape and drive Safety, Health, Environment and Quality standards across several operational sites while working closely with senior leadership and operational teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring legal compliance, maintaining ISO standards and promoting a proactive culture of continuous improvement throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain SHEQ management systems in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Ensure audit readiness through internal audits, external audits and compliance inspections.
  • Act as the lead point of contact for health & safety, environmental and quality matters.
  • Provide practical guidance and support to operational teams on SHEQ legislation and best practice.
  • Manage risk assessments, safe systems of work, incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate SHEQ training, toolbox talks and awareness programmes.
  • Monitor and report on SHEQ KPIs, trends and performance metrics.
  • Liaise with enforcing authorities and regulatory bodies when required.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Support leadership teams with performance management and development planning.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior SHEQ management role within engineering, manufacturing or construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK SHEQ legislation and ISO management systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Hands-on and proactive approach to SHEQ management.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
  • Environmental or quality-related certifications.
  • Experience within structural steel, fabrication or heavy engineering environments.
