Our client is a leading specialist contractor within the architectural steelwork sector, delivering high-quality steel solutions across commercial, residential, education and infrastructure projects throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team in Sheffield. Whilst architectural or structural steelwork experience would be advantageous, they are also keen to speak with Estimators from façade, curtain walling, glazing and building envelope backgrounds who are looking to bring their expertise into a specialist steelwork environment.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in securing new business by preparing accurate and competitive tenders for architectural steelwork packages. You will work closely with clients, suppliers and internal teams to ensure projects are priced effectively and commercially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Measuring and quantifying materials, labour and project requirements.
  • Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Identifying commercial risks and value engineering opportunities.
  • Liaising with clients, architects, contractors and internal stakeholders throughout the tender process.
  • Supporting project handovers following successful contract awards.
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and contributing to future business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Estimator within architectural steelwork, structural steelwork, façades, curtain walling, glazing, cladding or a related construction sector.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational abilities.
  • Experience producing competitive tenders and cost estimates.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
