About the Company
This opportunity is with an established specialist in structural steel and innovative hybrid construction, delivering sustainable building solutions across some of the UK's most technically challenging projects. Following significant investment in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and continued growth, they’re looking for a Senior Works Supervisor to help lead operations on the shop floor.
The Role
Working closely with the Works Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operation of the fabrication facility, ensuring production targets, quality standards and delivery deadlines are achieved while providing strong leadership to the workshop team. You’ll:
- Lead and coordinate a team of over 40 production personnel across multiple departments.
- Manage production flow from incoming materials through to final dispatch.
- Allocate labour and resources to maximise productivity and minimise bottlenecks.
- Champion health, safety and quality standards across the workshop.
- Work closely with senior management to support production planning and operational performance.
- Drive continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of workmanship and accountability.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience as a Foreman, Supervisor or Team Leader within structural steel, heavy engineering or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of fabrication, CNC processing, painting and production workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation within a manufacturing environment.
- Good IT skills and experience using digital production or management systems.
Desirable
- Experience supervising large workshop teams.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
- Experience working within structural steel fabrication.
