An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Structural Engineer to join a well‑established structural steel fabrication business delivering high‑quality projects across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. This is a hands‑on design and engineering role working closely with fabrication, detailing, and project teams to deliver practical, buildable steel solutions from concept through to manufacture and erection. This position requires previous experience working within or alongside a structural steel fabricator, with a strong understanding of how designs translate into fabrication and site installation.
What you’ll do:
- Produce structural steel designs, calculations, and detailed engineering solutions for a range of projects
- Work closely with fabrication and design teams to ensure all designs are practical, efficient, and buildable
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings to develop structural steel concepts and connection designs
- Carry out design checks and ensure compliance with relevant UK standards and Eurocodes
- Liaise with project managers, detailers, and workshop teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Support technical queries during fabrication and erection phases
- Contribute to continuous improvement in design efficiency and fabrication methods
- Attend internal and external project meetings as required
You’ll need:
- Proven experience as a Structural Engineer within structural steel or a fabrication‑led environment
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, connection design, and construction methods
- Experience working with Tekla Structures or similar detailing/design software (desirable)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and Eurocodes
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with design, fabrication, and site teams
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent (preferred)
