A leading specialist contractor within the architectural and secondary steelwork sector is seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Manager to join its growing team in Sheffield. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially minded construction professional with a proven track record of delivering multiple steelwork projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from contract award through to completion, ensuring delivery is safe, profitable, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
- Overseeing a portfolio of architectural and secondary steelwork projects, acting as the key point of contact for clients, subcontractors and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing multiple contracts concurrently from pre-start through to final completion.
- Leading project planning, programming and coordination across design, fabrication and installation teams.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.
- Attending client meetings, progress meetings and site visits as required.
- Managing commercial performance including variations, valuations and final accounts.
- Overseeing procurement, subcontractor management, labour allocation and plant requirements.
- Monitoring project performance to ensure delivery against programme, budget and quality objectives.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
- Providing leadership, support and mentorship to Contracts Managers, Project Managers and site teams.
- Ensuring compliance with all health & safety legislation, RAMS and company procedures.
- Identifying opportunities for repeat business and supporting long-term client relationships.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a Senior Contracts Manager, Contracts Manager or Project Director role within architectural steelwork, secondary steelwork or a related specialist construction sector.
- Strong understanding of fabrication and installation processes.
- Excellent commercial and contractual awareness.
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM regulations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
