A well-established and highly respected structural steelwork contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Tekla Checker to join their technical team in Huddersfield. You will play a key role in reviewing models and drawings, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards before progressing into fabrication.

The Opportunity

Working closely with Tekla Detailers, Engineers, Project Managers, and fabrication teams, you will be responsible for checking detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings to ensure accuracy, compliance, and buildability. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of structural steelwork processes and the ability to identify and resolve issues before they reach the workshop or site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Checking Tekla Structures 3D models and fabrication drawings for accuracy and quality
  • Reviewing GA drawings, assembly drawings, and fabrication details
  • Identifying clashes, errors, and detailing issues prior to fabrication
  • Checking connections, dimensions, materials, bolts, and detailing requirements
  • Ensuring drawings meet project specifications, client requirements, and industry standards
  • Working closely with detailers and project teams to resolve technical queries
  • Supporting continuous improvement within the detailing process
  • Ensuring all information is accurate and ready for manufacture

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience within structural steel detailing, checking, or a similar technical role
  • Strong working knowledge of Tekla Structures
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand fabrication requirements
